Simple motel lodging with ...

Simple motel lodging with a great location in the heart of downtown Carmel. Highlights: - Location: just few blocks off of ocean so walking distance from everything - Clean room just remodeled - Friendly staff at check in - Free parking in own lot which is a big perk as parking can be challenging in this area - Have a pool - Large flatscreen tv - Complimentary small breakfast and juices in a separate room Midlights: - No soap holder in bathroom - Breakfast only til 10am - Pretty spendy for the level of lodging but this area is expensive Lowlights: - Sheets were bit scratchy, same with thin toilet paper and Kleenex

No other place can ...

No other place can beat this gem based on the price and location. It's within a five-ten minute walk to many restaurants and points of interest (Tuck Box, Alvarado Street Brewery, La Bicyclette, Napoli, Carmel Bistro Giovanni, Carmel Plaza, the Secret Garden, Carmel Library, etc.). Checking in after 3 was easy and fast. The gentleman who helped us was kind enough to give us a room downstairs to make it easier to lug our stuff around since the two-story building doesn't have elevators. As Best Western reward members, we got one of the recently-remodeled rooms. The hotel provides free on-site parking which is much appreciated in a town where only the air is free. Breakfast is served from 7-10 a.m. While it's not as varied as some of the other larger Best Western Hotels, hard-boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, waffles, cereals, juices, and yogurt are aplenty. There's a spacious balcony upstairs to watch the sunset or enjoy a picnic with an ocean view at a distance. Tip: Linda's Store is right across from the balcony. It's a perfect place to pick up light meals and picnic food. Our only, minor complaint was about the TV remote that went rogue and muted audio on its own. Both my hubby and I tried troubleshooting to no avail. Since it happened after 9 p.m., when my hubby went to ask for help at the lobby, he found out the lobby was locked and closed, meaning no one works after hours. Given the town vibes, it's not totally surprising, but I do wonder what would've happened if the power that went off momentarily in our room didn't come back right away. Anyway, the TV issue got resolved the next day by a lovely woman who gave us a new remote and had a worker recalibrate the original remote. It wasn't a big deal since we don't visit Carmel to watch TV. Overall, this was an excellent find and will return and recommend to friends who plan on visiting Carmel in a couple of months.

Best Western Carmel is ...

Best Western Carmel is a very good choice for a reasonably priced, centrally located and comfortably furnished motel in the heart of the storied tourist town of Carmel by the Sea. "Jiji" is a wonderfully cheerful and service minded host. Great restaurants are just a short walk away. Don't miss hiking in Point Lobos and walking Carmel's world-renowned beach.
