We’re hosting the first Multisport event in Santa Cruz in 2022! What’s the same? It’s an aquathlon – swim & run event. Think triathlon without the bike! There are two individual distances for the event. The two distances are 1500 meter swim/4 mile run and a 750 meter swim/4 mile run. USAT sanctioned event and rankings eligible for Aquathlon standings. What’s new this year? We’ve added back in the individual Open Water Swim for both distances for people who want to try out their racing skills with a singel loop around the buoys or a double loop around the buoys. Plus, there is a standalone 4 mile run. Because this is part of a USA Triathlon event you will still need to purchase a USAT one-day membership if you are not an annual member. If you’re looking to practice – you can swim two loops around the buoys at Cowell Beach and run up West Cliff to Getchell Street and back to the beach for the longer distance. One loop around the buoys and up to Getchell and back for the shorter distance. What’s different for this year? Pretty much everything else.Registration\nRegistration limit of 150 inclusive of both distances.Registration must be completed online, in advance. If the event is not sold out and there are race weekend or race day registrations available they must be completed on the athlete’s own phone without any physical touching of paper or race packets prior to distribution to the athlete. All athlete check-in will be done electronically with no paper/pen usage except as required by staff.\nStart & Finish\nThe event will start and finish on Cowell Beach between the Dream Inn and the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf. We will determine wave starts based on registration numbers for each event. There will be limited volunteer placement on the course in order to maintain social distancing but not at the expense of runner safety. However, family and friends of athletes are encouraged to help out at the start and finish lines in order to see and support your
