Come learn about upcoming grant opportunities and how your organization can obtain funding to lead census education and outreach efforts in hard-to-count communities in Monterey County. The United States census is conducted every 10 years in accordance with the U.S. Constitution. The goal is to count every single resident living in the entire country. A complete census count is essential to determining the federal allocation of funds to Monterey County. The 2020 Census will present challenges as Monterey County has one of the highest hard to count populations in California at 35%. To minimize an undercount in our region, the Community Foundation for Monterey County is committed to supporting Census 2020 efforts for education and outreach for hard-to-count populations by establishing a pooled fund to ensure all residents are counted in the 2020 Census. Grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations working to educate and engage hard-to-count communities.
